HOW IT WORKS
DOWNLOADING & OPENING YOUR FILES
WHY CAN’T I OPEN AND EDIT MY DOWNLOADED FILES ON A TABLET OR SMARTPHONE?
Our editable PDFs are only compatible with Adobe Reader's desktop version and won't work on an iPad, iPhone or smartphone. Once downloaded on to your computer, you'll be able to open, edit and print.
WHAT DO I NEED TO EDIT MY PRINTABLES?
Nothing fancy... All you need is Adobe Reader, the FREE VERSION... it's an easy-to-use software that's already installed on most computers. You don't need to be techy, but you will need the latest version. Download it for free here.
I HAVE A MAC, HOW DO I OPEN THE PDF FILE?
Macs will open a PDF using its default pdf reader "Preview"... BUT... just open the PDF file using Adobe Reader instead... To do this, launch Adobe Reader first then open the PDF file directly from Adobe Reader itself...OR... right click on the file name, select "Open With" and select "Adobe Reader"... OR.. make Adobe Reader you default PDF reader using my tutorial here: http://bit.ly/2HrKUQQ
WHY CAN'T I OPEN THE ZIP FILE WITH ADOBE READER?
Adobe Reader cannot read a "zip file" because it is a compressed file which needs to be extracted/unzipped to reveal a folder with the printable, and all the tutorials included with your purchase. Here is our tutorial for unzipping a zip file:
HOW TO EDIT TEXT IN A PRINTABLE
WHAT TEXT CAN I EDIT?
Our printables allow you to edit and personalize text — generally stuff like names, dates, times, and addresses! All fields where you can fill in your details are in the highlighted text blocks for easy editing.
CAN I EDIT FONT COLORS, FONT SIZE & FONT CHOICE?
Design elements like colors, fonts, and font size can be edited by pressing Control+E (PC) or Apple+E(Mac) and editing the properties using the toolbar provided. Please see the tutorials included with your purchase or see our TIPS & TUTORIALS section for them.
CAN FONT POSITIONING BE EDITED?
No, font positioning cannot be edited. The text blocks are formatted in place and cannot be changed.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH AREAS OF THE DOCUMENT I CAN EDIT?
Once you open the PDF in Adobe Reader, the text blocks will be the highlighted boxes... if they are not highlighted go to Edit > Preferences > Forms, then you will see each text block are in the "Highlight Color". To remove the visibility of the highlighted areas, un-tick the box. Please Note: Not all printable files have "editable text", please see the listing images and info for the "editable text block areas"...
WHAT IF MY WORDING DOESN’T FIT?
Our designs and text fields were created to fit most clients' custom wording. Some text has been formatted so the text will resize automatically to fit into the text area.
In the other text fields, if you have a lot more – or less – text than shown, you can access the Text Properties Toolbar to change the text size. To do so, press Control+E (PC) or Apple+E(Mac). See our special notes on editing below. Please see your tutorials included with your purchase or see our TIPS & TUTORIAL section for them.
I HAVE A "PLUS SIGN" WHEN I PRINT. CAN THIS BE FIXED?
This "plus sign" is called the Text Overflow Indicator. This means there is either too much text or an extra return in the text block... which makes this Text Overflow Indicator or "+" sign show up at the end of a text box... Try reducing the amount of text or seeing if there is an extra “return” in your text field. Or use the steps below to remove of the "+" sign:
- Open your PDF in Adobe Reader...
- On a pc - in the menu bar click Edit ---> Preferences...
- On a mac - in the menu bar click Adobe Reader ---> Preferences")...
- Under the Categories box, select "Forms"...
- Uncheck "Show text field overflow indicator"...
- Click "okay" or "close"...
- Once the box Preference Box is closed the "+ " sign will not appear, and it will not be printed.
CAN I SAVE MY FILE?
Yes. Go to File > SAVE AS. This will save your file so you can go continue editing later if needed. I do suggest saving the file with a different name, so you have original if you need it.
CAN I CHANGE OR EDIT ANY OF THE GRAPHICS?
No. Adobe Reader does not allow you to change the colors of the graphics or edit the graphics. Printables cannot be opened in any other graphic design program (like Photoshop or Illustrator, for example) as this will corrupt the editable text feature.
DO I NEED TO INSTALL ANY FONTS?
No. All fonts you see in our party designs are already embedded within the file. It's as easy as opening the file in Adobe Reader and typing over our sample text. But on the off chance the fonts are not working correctly, please contact us... because more than likely what has happened is the PDF file was opened incorrectly... and this an easy fix.
CAN I INSERT A PHOTO INTO THE INVITE?
If you did not purchase an item that has a photo, you will not be able to add a photo to a NON-PHOTO item.
HOW TO PRINT A PRINTABLE
WHAT IS THE BEST PLACE TO PRINT SimplyEverydayMe PRINTABLES?
Your files can be printed right at home using your home 'color' printer... Woo-hoo! But for the BEST results, I suggest printing at your local printer or copy centers. I do have tutorials for uploading the 'big box stores' like Office Depot, Staples and Kinkos here: bit.ly/2JP3dRN
WHAT ABOUT PRINTING AT A PHOTO CENTER - WALGREENS?
Our printables were not created for printing at photo centers... so to print at a photo center, please see our tutorial for changing the PDF into a HI-RES JPG, then CROPPING it for printing at a photo center. Here is our tutorial: bit.ly/2WKlHq7
I WANT TO SEND THE INVITATION DIGITALLY AS A TEXT MESSAGE OR EMAIL?
Please see our tutorial for changing the PDF invitation into a JPG, then CROPPING it for using it as a digital invitation. Here is our tutorial: http://bit.ly/2JU3TFh
